6 Inspirational Places to Visit In San Francisco

by Kyung Kim 10/17/2019

Traveling to San Francisco soon? Thousands of people flock to the Bay Area each year as guests and tourists. For many of them, the only thing on their list is the Golden Gate Bridge or the Golden Gate Park. But the Bay Area has more inspirational sites to visit than either of them. Check out some of the top attractions of the San Francisco Bay Area and see which of them inspire some new creation from you back home.

1. Alcatraz Island.

Once upon a time, Alcatraz housed the notorious Alcatraz Penitentiary and has now become one of the eagerly sought after tourist sites in the Bay Area. You can elect to go on a tour of the Prison to see the architecture of the cell houses and imagine how famous residents of Alcatraz like Al Capone lived.

2. California Academy of Sciences.

This tribute to knowledge houses an aquarium, a planetarium, a museum of natural history and several education programs. It’s not unusual to see crowds of spectators observing penguins strutting around. Others explore space and time in the planetariums.

3. The de Young Museum.

The de Young Museum is the main exhibit of most modern and contemporary art creations in the greater Bay Area. You can see displays of African artwork, textiles, and photography from various parts of the world.

4. The San Francisco Museum of Modern Arts.

There are several museums in the Bay Area, but the San Francisco Museum of Modern Arts is premier. Enjoy the over 30,000 works of art currently on display, and photography exhibitions curated for particular audiences. You might find a replica worth investing in for your home.

5. The Cable Car Museum.

This museum is purpose-built to shine a light on the history of the cable car in America. It plays host to a display of three vintage cable cars as well as lots of quizzes and info sections. You can also decide to buy different beautiful replicas of antique cable cars from the gift shop for your home décor.

6. The Museum of Asian Art.

The Museum of Asian Arts is host to one of the largest collections of Asian Art anywhere in the world. You can find art from different cultures and various time zones—from Turkey to China and then India.

Get on your journey to find fantastic inspiration in any of these places and see what life brings your way.

Kyung Kim

Hi, I'm Kyung Kim. I immigrated from South Korea to the United States in 1968 when I was 7 years old. I have seen my mom struggle with the English language and work hard to raise her four kids by herself. Still to this day, I don't know how she pulled it off, but she bought her first home in 1979 for $70,000 and because of that decision, she was able to live without worrying about her financial future. I want that for everyone, to feel the pride of home ownership and to build their financial wealth using real estate as part of their financial portfolio. I feel so blessed to play a small role in helping others reach this goal.

I live in Beaverton with my husband, Richard. My mom, who lived with us for several years, passed away in our home in February 2022. Her first home purchase in 1979 made it possible for her to live to the very end, without worrying about her finances. As of August 2022 with a little downpayment assistance, our four children own their own homes. Being in real estate, I quickly realized that if they didn't buy now, they may be priced out of the market in the future. Whether that would have been the case, we will never know, but what we do know is that they are all realizing some good, healthy appreciation in their home values.

As passionate as I am about people owning their homes, I'm also passionate about giving back to our community. I support Compassion First, a non-profit organization that provides aftercare for sex trafficked girls in Indonesia. My husband and I also feel called to financially support social injustice organizations.

I'd love to assist you. Whether you're in the research phase at the beginning of your real estate search or you know exactly what you're looking for, you'll benefit from having a real estate professional by your side. I'd be honored to put my real estate experience to work for you.
